Who we are
Bookbell is an iPhone app for managing bookings. If you have any question about privacy, email support@bookbell.app.
What Bookbell keeps, and where
Everything you put into Bookbell is stored on your iPhone: bookings, your customers’ names, phone numbers and addresses, invoices, expenses, mileage, attachments (photos and files) and your settings. We don’t have servers that hold it, and we can’t see it.
- iCloud backup. If you leave it on, Bookbell saves a backup file once a day to your own iCloud Drive (in a folder called Bookbell). It’s stored by Apple under your Apple Account. Attachments are not included in this file. Your iPhone’s own iCloud backup may also include Bookbell, depending on your iPhone settings.
- Your calendar (optional). If you allow it, Bookbell adds your bookings to the calendar you choose, shows your other appointments, and can bring in bookings from calendars you pick. Your calendar provider (for example Apple or Google) stores those events under its own privacy policy.
- Claude and ChatGPT (optional). Bookbell doesn’t connect to these services itself. If you put your bookings in Google Calendar and connect Claude or ChatGPT to it, those services can read your calendar under their own terms.
Features that use Apple services
- Address suggestions and drive times use Apple Maps. The address text you type is sent to Apple to find places and travel times. Bookbell doesn’t use your location.
- Booking by voice only listens while you’re using the microphone. On iOS 26 and later the words are worked out on your iPhone; on earlier versions, Apple’s speech recognition service may process the audio. Bookbell never stores or shares recordings.
- Reading messages and Ask Bookbell use Apple Intelligence on your iPhone, where available. Nothing is sent to us.
- Face ID is handled by your iPhone; Bookbell only learns whether it succeeded.
- Purchases (the free trial and the one-time unlock) are made through Apple. We don’t receive your payment details.
Camera, photos and files
Bookbell only uses the camera, your photos or your files when you choose to attach something to a booking. A copy is kept inside Bookbell on your iPhone, and deleted when you remove it or the booking.
Messages and calls
When you message or call a customer, Bookbell opens Messages, WhatsApp or Phone with the text ready. You decide whether to send it; Bookbell doesn’t send anything on its own.
Your customers’ information
If you store details about your customers, you’re responsible for them under data protection law (in the UK, UK GDPR). Bookbell helps by keeping them on your iPhone, protected by your passcode and optionally Face ID.
Deleting your information
Delete a booking in Bookbell to remove it. Deleting the app removes everything stored in it from your iPhone. To remove backups, delete the Bookbell folder in iCloud Drive using the Files app.
Children
Bookbell is a business tool and isn’t aimed at children.
